About 'image comics invincible'|COMIC NEWS: INVINCIBLE AND THE WALKING DEAD TURN 75

Todd               McFarlane               (Spider-Man,               Spawn)               is               finally               back               at               last               after               a               long               hiatus               from               comics               with               a               new               ongoing               series.

A               new               title               released               this               month               from               Image               Comics               entitled               Haunt.

With               him               he               has               brought               the               star               power               of               writer               Robert               Kirkman               (Invincible,               Destroyer),               Greg               Capullo               (X-Force,               Spawn)               on               layouts               and               the               pencils               of               RyanOttley               (Invincible).

With               McFarlane               drawing               the               covers               and               laying               the               inks               you               can               bet               every               inch               of               every               page               is               pure               gorgeous.

The               story               centers               around               two               brothers,               one,               a               priest               named               Daniel,               and               the               other,               Kurt,               a               secret               agent.

Neither               get               along               with               each               other               due               to               their               different               paths               in               life.

When               Kurt               is               murdered               he               begins               to               haunt               his               brother               about               the               conspiracy               surrounding               his               murder.

Through               some               paranormal               means,               they               can               combine               to               create               a               new               entity,               Haunt.
Kirkman               writes               a               genius               story,               as               usual,               and               Ottley's               pencils               are               top               notch               and               easy               on               the               eyes.

Capullo's               layouts               are               solid               and               McFarlane               inks               like               he               draws               the               covers,               beautifully.

It               is               an               enjoyable               read               and               will               no               doubt               become               the               next               big               thing               and               a               permanent               add               to               every               comic               fans               pull               list.
There               is               one               really               big               issue               that               I               have               with               this               title.

The               character               itself.

McFarlane               is               well               known               for               his               work               with               Spider-Man               for               Marvel               Comics               and               his               creator               owned,               Spawn.

It               really               seems               that               he               can't               quite               think               out               of               that               box.

I               was               extremely               excited               about               this               title               until,               that               is,               I               saw               the               cover               art.

The               first               thing               I               thought               was               "Spider-Spawn?".

The               character               basically               looks               like               an               amalgam               of               the               two               characters.

I               was               a               tad               bit               depressed               that               McFarlane's               return               would               be               with               such               a               unoriginal               character               design.

Regardless,               McFarlane               and               Ottley               both               do               the               character               some               justice               with               their               unique               styles.
I               would               like               to               point               out,               gripe               aside,               that               I               did               indeed               buy               this               title.

I               enjoyed               reading               it               and               know               that               Kirkman's               writing               and               Ottley's               pencils               will               carry               Haunt               well,               despite               the               unimpressive               character               design.
